Our Make-It Take-It this month was natural Bird Feeders. We used fruit loops and cheerios to make these peanut butter free bird feeders. I choose to do a craft that doesn’t involve peanut butter because there are so many kids who have peanut allergies and I did not want to take the chance of having someone accidentally ingest some while crafting.
The craft and idea is simple.
Use pipe cleaners, cheerios, and fruit loops to create works of art, to be hung in trees to feed the birds
(and most likely squirrels and raccoons too).
I found the pine cones outside my apartment, gathered a bunch up and brought them in so the kids can stick the cereal between the open spaces of the pine cones for a different and colorful alternative.
Some of our patrons decided to also make jewelry with the supplies and had walked out with cereal bracelets.
